Abstract: The Yao people are cross-border ethnic groups scattered all over the world, and their religious beliefs are deeply influenced by Daoism and have been concerned by the academic circles at home and abroad. The one-hundred-year study of Daoism of the Yao nationality in French academic, taking the study of the religion of the Yao nationality in France since the beginning of the 20th century as the object of study, this paper probes into the scope of its research centered on "Daoism of the Yao nationality". It is believed that in the early 20th century, the study of Yao religion of military officers and missionaries in the French and Vietnamese colonies began with the needs of colonial rule, and attached great importance to field surveys and ethnographic records. Contemporary French Daoist scholars generally believe that ethnic religions absorb Daoist traditions and emphasize the academic points of ethnic Daoism. The field investigation and study of the texts by contemporary French scholars have also provided richer evidence for the integration of the Yao religion and Daoism.
