Abstract: According to the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, adhering to the harmonious coexistence between man and nature and building ecological civilization are the millennium plan for the sustainable development of the Chinese nation. Heguanzi has rich ideas on sustainable development for its epitomizing Taoism of the Waring States Period. Sorting out and analyzing the sustainable development ideas contained in Heguanzi, such as respecting“Tao”and valuing “virtue”, the unity of heaven, earth and man, and“observing measurement but not abuse”,are of great practical significance for the construction of socialist ecological civilization with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
