“Confusion and Breaking: Anti-involution Thought in Tao Te Ching
    Wu Zijia
    2022(2): 23-34.
    Abstract ( 136 )   PDF (7969KB) ( 90 )
"Involution" has become a severe problem faced by young generation today. Being born out of the academic research of anthropology,it refers to the development state of internal refinement due to the stagnation of external development. At present, it has become synonymous with the vicious circle of meaningless competition and internal consumption of resources in the eyes of the public. According to different scholars' descriptions, there are many opinions about the causes of involution, which can be summed up in two aspects: external resources and internal desires. However, none of them raised the anti-involution abstractly to the ultimate concern level of society, but only stayed in the specific and accidental single event analysis. In Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu has long been aware of the problem of involution. He believes that people's infinite desire for fame, wealth, power and worldly knowledge will inevitably lead to confusion and competition, which is not in line with the nature of Tao. Correspondingly, he puts forward the idea of Tao's law of nature. As the ultimate concern of Tao, "nature" encourages the natural harmony among all living individuals in human socicty, and builds the foundation of anti-involution thought from two aspects of values and methodology. Through the excavation of this ideological resource, we can sort out the mechanism of the formation of inner volume in Tao Te Ching, and from this, we can extract the wise ways to crack the inner volumc, such as keeping one's mind pure and lustful, keeping one's own self-discipline, and opening up the blue ocean.

An Analysis on the Reasons Why Lin Xiyi Annotated Lao Zi——Take Laozi yanzhai kouyi As the Center of Investigation
    Wang Min
    2022(2): 64-74.
    Abstract ( 62 )   PDF (5829KB) ( 50 )
The main reason for Lin Xiyi's (林希逸) annotation of Laozi lies in his belief that the previous annotations cannot comprehend the initial intention of Laozi because he does not understand the expression of "Jiewu mingdao”(借物明道) in this book. Taoism cannot learn the truth of Laozi for advocating it too much, and Confucianism cannot get it for denouncing it as heresy without making in depth exploration. From this, we can vaguely discover Lin Xiyi’s tolerant attitude towards Taoism. The purpose of Lin’s annotation is to interpret the initial intention of Laozi, and then demonstrate that Confucianism and Taoism are“not relellious”,so as to open up a way for absorbing the thought of Laozi and developing their Neo Confucianism. The unavailability of Laozi' s initial intention is closely related to the “no rebellious”of Confucianism and Taoism. The former is the premise for the latter to develop, and the latter is the destination and fundamental direction of the former.

On the Double Implications of Liquor in Bai Yuchan' s Poetry
    Liu Cong
    2022(2): 75-85.
    Abstract ( 90 )   PDF (6941KB) ( 102 )
The fact that Bai Yuchan is obsessed with liquor is well-known among Taoist scholars. It can also be verified from his potry. Being obsessed with liquor is not only a lifestyle but a profound comfort to his soul. On the one hand, the liquot relieves Bai’s pain of being unable to blend into the earthly world and wandering alone for years; On the other hand, the liquor, serving as a tool of carrying Tao, helps him to experience Tao and awaken his consciousness of Tao. Between blending into the earthly wotld or living a sequestered life, liquot created an ideal world of "living in reality but feling free and unfettered”for Bai, enabling him to live physically with a metaphysical aiude.

A Study on the Aesthetic Thought of Daoist Grotto-Heavens
    Liu Xingjian
    2022(2): 86-100.
    Abstract ( 88 )   PDF (10215KB) ( 98 )
The concept of "Grotto-Heavens" in Daoism is not only the spatial construction of religious geogaphy theology, but also related to Daoist cosmology, ontology, body concept and so on. The isomorphic pattern between earth and the universe of "Grotto-Heavens" has formed a transcendence from outside to inside with the time experience of "traveling in Grotto Heavens" and the "insight vision" of God in the body, reaching the aesthetic realm of "selflessness and emptiness", and it is also the purification of life.

    Yu Ling
    2022(2): 101-113.
    Abstract ( 62 )   PDF (8016KB) ( 71 )
According to the Taoist tales, the gods of stars often follow the principle of interfluve in astrology, to pattol in the region, fulilling their duties, which entirely shows the primary role that the principle of interfluve of constellation have played in the characters and geography of Taoist tales. Nvxiu (女宿) , ranks the third in the seventh of the twenty-eight stars in Xuanwu constellation and is in charge of tailoring, marriage, military and civil achievements. It was adapted and hidden as an auxiliary line in the two versions of the Supervisory Censor Yao (御史姚生) compiled by Du Guangting (杜光庭) at the end of the Tang Dynasty and the Yao' s Three Childes (姚氏三子) adapted by Li Fang (李肪) at the beginning of the Song Dynasty, so as to highlight these two authors' mind of preaching with "inculcating moral through folklore" (以文載道) and the meaning of praising sages with "civilizing people through literature" (以文化人) ; From the corresponding relationship between the location of meeting immortals and the infuential fields of Nvxiu, we can also reflect on the utilization of constellation interfuve’(星宿分野) resources by Taoist writers and the evolution of it in various dynasties.
